When looking for a new fax machine, one
has to think about how they are going to be using it. Do you send
or receive more faxes? How many pages in you typical fax? Do you
need to print in color? Do you want to use your fax as a copier also?
There are many different choices available. You can use inkjet, laser
or thermal ribbons and these will all produce different outputs.
If you are printing more pictures or graphics you might prefer the
laser or inkjet models, sometimes the thermal ribbons don't produce
clear output. You can check to see what the resolution settings are
to see if they will fit your needs, the higher the resolution the
slower the transmission but the clearer the image. Go to www.customofficebizsupplies.com to
look at fax machines. Whenever looking at replacement equipment check
into the supply items to see what the cost of ownership will be.
Many times a compatible supply is available and meets OEM specifications.

The laser printer manufacturers are making printers
that have long maintenance cycles or are considered disposable. Part
of the ownership of a laser printer is periodic maintenance and we
can help you to make informed decisions on what needs to be done.
You may be experiencing paper jams or bad printouts. With the information
on your printers configuration page you can see if a maintenance
interval is coming or past and if a problem keeps reoccurring. The
printers menu map page is also a helpful too[ by showing you where
to took on the menu to make changes or print diagnostic pages. By
faxing or emailing me these forms I can help you to figure out what
is going on with your printer. Then you can decide if you should
repair or replace the printer. Paper jams are usually easily repaired
with cleaning or replacement of parts.

It seems that cash register and credit card machines
are going through a lot of changes. It used to be you had a ribbon
and 1 to 3 ply paper rolls but now a lot of the machines are going
to thermal rolls. You have one less supply but only one copy of the
transaction. Most of the time it will be printed twice with a copy
signed by the customer. Remember to think of your needs when deciding
to upgrade equipment. If you need two copies it might be better to
stay with the ribbon and paper depending on how much they cost verses
thermal paper. Also think about how long you want to keep the copies
as some thermal doesn't archive well. Find out from the equipment
vendor about these issues. We can help you to sort out from your
selected equipment the supply options. Only then can you decide if
the purchase makes sense to you or if a different model would do
a better job.

With the manufacturers introducing new inkjet printers
every month it is hard to know which one to pick. You need to think
about how you want to use the printer and what you expect from it.
For example: you might just print in black 90% of the time and need
color occasionally. A good choice would be a higher yield black cartridge.
You could go with a tn-color or individual color cartridges but remember
that inkjets will expire just like toner cartridges. If you wilt be
printing more colors than black the individual cartridges are the best
value. Some printers have a separate printhead that the cartridges
fit into and that may need to be replaced sometime in the printer life.
Look at the price of the cartridges when making a decision of which
printer to get. Call me for help in finding out what options are available
for the printer you are looking at.

It seems like every time you are in a rush to get something
printed off, the printer starts jamming or won't pick up the paper.
With a few simple techniques you can keep the printer running until
it can be repaired. Check the rollers in the paper tray to see if
they are covered with white paper dust. Take a clean damp cloth and
wipe off the roller on all sides. You may have to rotate the roller
to reach all sides. The pad in the tray may also need to be cleaned.
Use a damp cloth with some soap on it to wipe the pad, make sure
you get all the soap off by wiping the pad several times with the
damp cloth only. Don't use alcohol on either part as this will dry
them out and make them wear out faster. For phone support call me
and I will help you figure out what needs to be done to keep your
printer running at top performance.

Happy New Year
I want to remind everyone that with the
heating season comes low humidity and static electricity. We must
remember to keep the humidity high enough that it doesn't interfere
with the operation of our laser printers. When the humidity is too
low you wilt get all kinds of defects. Your humidity should be between
30% and 50%. You can put a humidifier by the printer if your humidity
is too low. If you have a lot of static electricity in your office
you can put an unscented dryer sheet in the printer, attached to
the toner door lid. I recommend the unscented as some people have
problems with scented things and smells.
More people are using the Internet to place orders,
so I just want to let everyone know that we have an order-form
